My Hair Growth Pictures
My hair is dry, and when it is not pressed, it is tightly
coiled. Some refer to this as type 4a/4b hair. This is
where my hair was in November 2001. Years of brushing it
and wearing it pulled back into a bun had caused hair
breakage in several places and thinning in others. I went
back to thermal pressing so that I could wear it in a style
that wouldn’t tug at my hairline. However, it seemed like I
could never get it past this length.
After experimenting with new hair techniques and creating
new hair care products which I used on my hair, I began to
see a measurable difference. This photo was taken in April
2004.
This photo of my hair was taken in April 2006. It is a
photo of my hair prior to pressing it. Even though many
people think pressing is damaging to the hair, I’ve found
it to be the exact opposite when done with low heat and in
moderation. My hair has grown back in places where it was
thinning since I started taking care of it using the
techniques I discuss in Twelve Steps
for Growing Black Hair, and using Northwest
Scents™ Black hair care products.
